Bear Mountain Vista in Evergreen and Homes in Bear Mountain

Refers to the many spectacular home sites available above Evergreen on Bear Mountain. Typically these homes are found up Little Cub Creek Road, then through Stanley park and over the crest of the mountain. These homes have some of the best views in Evergreen, some overlooking Evergreen Lake, Stanley park, Bear Creek Canyon and with panoramic views of Mount Evans, the Indian Peaks Wilderness and some even see out to Longs Peak.

Although the setting is high atop Bear mountain there are many large gently sloped parcels that are suitable for horse properties and large acreage estates. I’ve lived on top of Bear Mountain and the thing that I remember most vividly is the amount of wildlife! We would see deer and elk so often we almost took them for granted–but didn’t!

On its flanks and at the top: like the aptly named; Hillcrest, Mary N Williams Estate Addition (coming out of town and climbing up the north side of Bear Mountain, Stanley Park which covers a large span of the southeast side of the mountain, Fern Gulch on the east side of the mountain and also known as Bear Mountain Vista, and much of the southeast side of Bear Mountain is usually referred to as Bear Mountain Vista (various filings) There is a new construction, custom home community at the bottom of Bear Mountain at the top of Little Cub Creek Road in a beautifully designed community named Cub Creek Ranch and although it isn’t technically on Bear Mountain, I’ve included it in the maps to show you some of the spectacular custom homes that are available nearby. Brook Forest is located in southwest Evergreen, on the northern edge of Staunton State Park, the newest, yet to be opened Colorado State Park.  Home to the historic Brook Forest Inn, the community of Brook Forest offers homes built in the mid 1900s as well as more recently.  The homes in Brook Forest are typically on large lots, offering privacy in wooded mountain settings.

At one time Brook Forest offered an elegant escape for Denverites looking to get away, and the Brook Forest Inn has hosted many interesting and famous people including President Harry S. Truman and Liberace.

As with all of Evergreen, Brook Forest offers an ideal mountain setting within close proximity of the city of Denver.  Maintaining a career in Denver is feasible with a commute of approximately 45 minutes to downtown, while allowing home life to center around the peace and serenity of mountain living.

From Evergreen, Brook Forest Road is the next right turn after Buffalo Park Road.  On the way to Brook Forest you’ll pass Evergreen Valley Estates on the right as you come up Brook Forest Road at Sprucedale. If you drive all the way through Brook Forest you’ll end up in Black Mountain Ranch Estates in Conifer.

Evergreen is a wonderful mountain community which is easily accessible by I-70, offering mountain living within an easy commuting distance of Denver.  With a wonderful town center and ample open space Evergreen truly offers the best of both worlds, the convenience of the city and the mountain feel of being away from it all.  Evergreen Colorado is located in unincorporated Jefferson County and consists of a variety of neighborhoods.  Cragmont is one neighborhood in Evergreen which takes advantage of the open space and views, offering a wonderful site for a Rocky Mountain home.

Cragmont is located between Highway 73, Brook Forest Road and Blue Creek Road and is equidistant between the town centers of both Evergreen and Conifer.  The views of Mount Evans from Cragmont are stunning and having the Conifer and Evergreen town centers nearby adds to its quality of life.  Some Cragmont real estate will reach all the way down to Brook Forest and others are just around the corner from Marshdale and Evergreen Meadows

The lower homes in Cragmont are technically in a subdivision called High Prairie which includes all homes on Cragmont Drive and a few on Prairie Drive. These homes are accessed from paved roads and will range from 1960’s ranches through newer construction and quality remodels.  Homes in High Prairie are typically served by household use wells, individual septic systems and propane gas. 

Higher up the mountain the majority of homes for sale in Cragmont are larger, rustic modern homes.  The lots are typically an acre or more in size and many have spectacular views of Mount Evans in the distance.  Homes in Cragmont have a mountain feel, with evergreen trees surrounding them and wildlife often passing by.  The newest homes are in The Villages at Cragmont and include new construction on Lynx Lair and Granite Crag.  These homes have terrific mountain views across the Mount Evans Wilderness area.   Homes in The Villages at Cragmont are served by a private water supply as opposed to individual wells.  The primary roads at the top of Cragmont are paved however, there are quite a few dirt roads and even some roads that don’t get adequate snow removal and maintenance.  However the roads serving existing homes are well maintained.

The privacy afforded by the large lot size and the mountain setting create the privacy and serenity desired by those who call Cragmont home.  The quality of life in Cragmont is one sought after by those who wish to enjoy the beauty of Colorado.

Homes in El Pinal

Homes in El Pinal are some of the most affordable in all of Evergreen and certainly in North Evergreen.  First time home buyers in Evergreen will find homes starting in the low $200’s and occasionally even some bank owned properties under $200k.  El Pinal offers extremely convenient access to Highway 74 as well as a wealth of amenities including Evergreen’s newest sports field, Stagecoach Park which has a lacrosse field and small baseball park and playground. El Pinal displays the vastness of Colorado’s landscape, offering distant views of the mountains and stunning panoramas from different home sites. The elevation of El Pinal is approximately 7,400 feet above sea level.

El Pinal is Home to the Evergreen Rodeo

El Pinal is rich in Evergreen and western culture, home to the annual Evergreen Rodeo every summer since 1967, and hosting many of the world’s best rodeo athletes along the way. Visitors and residents alike enjoy the local flavor, frequent wildlife and experience the great outdoors.  As you drive through El Pinal you’ll notice the names of the streets are all related to the Evergreen rodeo history including street names like Roan Drive, Shetland Road, Palomino Drive, Arena Drive, Bronco Road, Sulky Road (which is a light weight two-wheeled horse drawn cart), there’s even a Saddle and a Bit Road …

The close proximity to Evergreen Parkway makes living in El Pinal easy, with shopping, dining and entertainment all a stone’s throw away and commuting into Denver for work an easy possibility.  The majority of homes in El Pinal are on lots of  just over half an acre.  This makes for one of Evergreen’s most dense neighborhoods and the overall lack of trees make El Pinal visibly dense compared with the neighboring communities that are heavily wooded like Wah Keeney to the north, Evergreen West west along Stagecoach, and Hiwan Hills just south. The views that extend from the homes, however, often make the land around the home seem infinite in size.  For affordable mountain living, El Pinal is a wonderful choice in North Evergreen.

Evergreen Meadows is an Evergreen community  situated north of Conifer and south of Evergreen’s town center and conveniently equidistant to both, approximately a ten minute drive to downtown Evergreen. The subdivision straddles Highway 73 mostly south of North Turkey Creek, although there are a few homes just above Marshdale Elementary School on Ocelot which are in the latest phase of Evergreen Meadows (Filing 10).  The central location with three options for getting east to Denver makes this  easily accessible for anyone commuting to Denver for work or play.

Residents of Evergreen Meadows feed Jeffco Public Schools, within the R-1 School District.  The schools are Marshdale Elementary School, which offers a challenging curriculum and the largest turf fields available to Evergreen sports teams, West Jefferson Middle School in Aspen Park Conifer, and Conifer High School .

Evergreen Meadows has an active homeowners association.  The Evergreen Meadows Homeowners Association’s makes a good effort to keep the neighborhood beautiful and running smoothly, enforcing their covenants and keeping residents informed.  Evergreen Meadows HOA has an annual summer picnic, holiday lights contest and other fun activities that create opportunities to get to know your neighbors and maintain a tight-knit community.

The community of Evergreen Meadows has approximately 450 homes.  The landscape of Evergreen Meadows offers incredible vistas, pine-covered hills, rock out-croppings and gorgeous houses.   All of the properties in Evergreen Meadows are on lots of 2 acres or larger, with many of the homes having spectacular views of Mount Evans and the Continental Divide.

Evergreen Park Estates

Is a quiet community situated in South Evergreen, in unincorporated Jefferson County.  The majority of the properties in Evergreen Park Estates are mostly wooded lots of one to two acres in size although there are quite a few meadow home sites along Hazel Road, Hatch Drive, Jay Lane, Gay Lane and Gigi Road. Evergreen Park Estates is adjacent to and south of Wilmot Elementary School along Buffalo Park Road.

Homes in Evergreen Park Estates run the gamut, from simple, mountain cabins built in the 1960′s to luxurious, spacious mountain contemporary styles.  The peace and serenity offered by living in Evergreen Park Estates is what draws people to the area, mountain living within a reasonable proximity to Denver and typically reasonable pricing.

With easy access to I-70 and while it is convenient to everything one could need it offers space, quiet, and peaceful mountain living at the same time.

Saddleback in Evergreen, CO

Saddleback is an Evergreen luxury,  mountain home community in Clear Creek County just beyond Hyland Hills and accessed from I-70 at Floyd Hill.  This area is easily recognized by the Ski Country Antiques Store on the south side of I-70.

Located from about 7,500 feet just above Bear Creek up to as much as 9,100 feet for the few homes towering above all else near where Witter Gulch meets Squaw Pass Road.  The subdivision of Evergreen West has a more mountainous climate than Denver yet remains on the mild side.  Winter temperatures range from 40 to 50 degrees on average with summer temperatures ranging between 70 and 80 degrees on average.

With 300 days of sunshine, unparalleled views and amazing recreational opportunities there is little reason not to look into Evergreen West  real estate.

Herzman Mesa

Herzman Mesa represents why people move to Evergreen and what people are looking for when they move to the mountains. Situated just South of downtown Evergreen at around 7,500 feet above sea level, it offers spectacular views of the mountains and plenty of privacy and space.  Originally platted in 1946 not too much has changed for Herzman Mesa. With mountain homes in a heavily treed area– homes in this part of Evergreen range from the original weekender/writer/artist cabins of the mid-40′s to new construction custom homes taking advantage of beautiful views and quick access to downtown Evergreen.Evergreen Real Estate in Herzman Mesa is a perfect spot for those who wish to commute in to Denver for work but live away from it all.  The subdivision is easily accessible to Highway 73, offering a few options in the Denver commute. 73 to Evergreen Parkway and I-70, 73 to 74 (Lower Bear Creek Canyon to Morrison Road and 470) and 73 to North Turkey Creek Canyon to 285 to 470 are all viable options for a city drive.  Herzman Mesa is minutes to the town center of Evergreen, making for easy shopping, dining and entertainment.
