Dedisse Park Below Evergreen lake

Beautiful places in EvergreenEvergreen is loaded with places to find serenity and beautiful mountain scenery and is Evergreen’s Iconic park. Perhaps the crown jewel of the Denver system– although the Lake House, skating and hockey on Evergreen Lake are managed through the Evergreen Parks and Rec. District.  The park is Denver ’s only high alpine lake park having been acquired in 1919 by the heirs of the original homesteaders; Julius and Mary Ann Dedisse.

The 35 feet tall Evergreen Lake Dam was built  in 1926 and creates the 65 acre, photogenic Evergreen Lake.  Although the lake is one of Evergreen’s biggest attractions for boaters, fisherman, ice Hockey on Evergreen Lake and ice skaters, originally the lake was created to mitigate the common and disastrous floods each spring from Upper Bear Creek.  The 420 acre Dedisse Park includes not only Evergreen Lake and Evergreen golf course, Colorado’s first mountain golf course, but also a stretch of Upper Bear Creek with a stone picnic shelter and canyon picnic areas.

If you have a chance to take a break from looking for Evergreen real estate, take a stroll around the lake on the well manicured walking trail or try your hand at catching the plentiful rainbow trout or even the elusive musky!  This is a beautiful place to relax and take in the splendor of Evergreen!

Am considering relocating to Evergreen once the home values increase here in Arizona or in California … would sell one of my houses in either state to purchase a place in Evergreen. However, I would like to live close enough to town to be able to walk for morning coffee, etc. A small quaint house or cabin, nothing elaborate, just me and my 3 cats. Is there such a place, you think?

Oh Rebecca,
Evergreen is perfectly designed for writers! In fact throughout Evergreen’s history writers, artists, musicians and poets have enjoyed our awe inspiring scenery, fresh air and comfortable climate. There are many little cabins and studios available within walking distance of Java Groove (our local coffee shop). Take a look at this custom map I made centered on Evergreen Lake and see all of the homes within walking distance to downtown: http://idx.diversesolutions.com/link/37615/ There are some beautiful homes and some very simple cabins. In fact there is what I would call an extremely pedestrian friendly cabin for sale for $49,000! So pedestrian friendly, in fact, that you can’t drive to it… On the other end of the spectrum is a remarkable, legacy quality estate overlooking the lake (http://idx.diversesolutions.com/search/727/19#PropertyID=27226979) which at the time of this writing was $1,776,000 and along with the home comes a lifetime supply of amazing sunsets. This could be the setting of “Midnight At Evergreen Lake”
